What it is
Echoes can make a good microphone and speaker system sound poor. If speech is hard to follow or music feels harsh, simply turning up the volume may make the problem worse. Acoustic design looks at reflections, reverberation, background noise, room shape, and surface materials because they affect intelligibility, microphone pickup, and loudspeaker coverage.
