What it is
Solar panels are only useful if the power is converted and delivered the way your building needs it. An inverter converts the DC electricity from PV panels into AC electricity used by most building loads. The right choice depends on the panel layout, shading, electrical system, and whether batteries or backup loads are part of the plan.
There may be plenty of sun at midday, but your biggest power needs may come later. A battery stores electricity for use when solar generation is low or unavailable. In a well-designed system, it can store surplus PV energy and may provide backup for selected loads during a grid outage.
What it covers
- Check inverter, panel, and battery compatibility.
- Plan system voltage and power needs, protection, connection to loads or the grid, and monitoring.
- Install and commission the selected system.
- Review energy use and critical loads, then estimate storage needs.
- Confirm battery and inverter compatibility; plan protection and monitoring.
- Integrate and test the system.
