What it is
A new studio can become an expensive collection of equipment if the workflow is not planned first. Start with what you will produce, who will operate it, and how each programme moves from source to recording, playout, or transmission. Qalibrate’s work for Radio Generation included technical consultancy, equipment supply, and integration for an upcoming urban radio in Kenya.
Cameras, audio, and switching can each work alone and still fail when the programme goes live. Installation and integration connect the studio’s equipment and infrastructure into one tested production environment—from mounting and cabling to configured signal paths, control, monitoring, and talkback.
What it covers
- Turn the production brief into a coordinated studio and control-room layout.
- Plan sightlines, audio, cameras, lighting, monitoring, talkback, cabling, networking, and delivery requirements.
- Document the design for installation and future maintenance.
- Configure and label connections and control.
- Integrate audio and video, then test the workflow from source to output.
- Check synchronization where required, document the system, and hand it over to operators.
